Release Human Rights Activist Hazrat Naeem Abdul Aayum alias Gilaaman Wazir

Subject: Request for the release of Human Rights Activist Hazrat Naeem Abdul Qayum alias                 

Gilaaman Wazir & prevent his deportation to Pakistan from Bahrain.

Your Excellency,

We the representatives of the Pashtun nation and the members of Pashtun Protection Movement (PTM) strongly condemn the arrest of Hazrat Naeem Abdul Qayum alias Geelaman Wazir by the Bahraini authorities (CID) on February 05, 2020 at around 7:00 PM from Arafa City, Behrain. 

Mr. Hazrat Naeem is well known Human Rights activist, and active member of Pashtun Tahafuz Moment. He has been actively working for the rights of Pashtun people who are the victims of state oppression and tyranny for the last 20 years.

We are extremely concerned by the reports coming from Bahrain that he might be deported to Pakistan as per request of the later through Interpol. He is a law-abiding citizen and has never committed a crime neither in Bahrain nor in Pakistan. So, his deportation to Pakistan will be in clear violation of international law and relevant UN conventions.

We would like to remind the government of Bahrain that hundrends of activists of PTM are languishing in prison on false charges of terrorism and sedition in Pakistan.

Keeping in mind the dismal track-record of Pakistani law enforcing agencies particularly ISI, we are concerned about the physical and mental safety of Mr. Hazrat Naeem if deported to Pakistan. We strongly believe that Human rights defenders and civil society should be able to express their opinion freely and dissent without fear of reprisal.

We, therefore, request to all the civilized countries of world, International Human Rights Organizations and United Nations to take notice of this illegal arrest and detention of Mr. Hazrat Naeem  and put pressure on  Bahrain’s government to immediately and unconditionally release him.
