Geneva International Conference titled “Pashtun Nation, Challenges, Opportunities and Pashtun Grand Jirga in Pakistan

Geneva, Switzerland: September 23, 2024.

Geneva International Conference titled “Pashtun Nation, Challenges, Opportunities and Pashtun Grand Jirga in Pakistan” was held on September 23, 2024 on the occasion of 57th Session of United Nations Human Rights Council at Geneva, Switzerland.

The participants and main speakers of the conference  were  the leaders and activists of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), diplomats, International Observers, Human Rights Defenders, journalists and leaders of all oppressed nations from Pakistan; many with direct experience with Human rights situation in Pakistan. These prominent experts and analysts deliberated in detail on the prevailing situation in Pakistan in areas of Enforced Disappearances, Extra-Judicial Killings, Arbitrary Detentions & Torture. The participants presented their expert opinion on how to face these daunting challenges, find ways and means to for a better future for Pashtun ethnic minority in Pakistan, not excluding, exercising their right to self-determination.

The main feature of the Conference was the planned October 11 Pashtun Grand Jirga/Assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  meant to open a grand dialogue on the gross human rights violations committed against Pashtun ethnic minority in Pakistan and devise a comprehensive strategy aimed at  protecting the social, political, economic and cultural rights of Pashtuns.
